I recently posted a "compiled version" of this oft-overlooked Love record featuring the Arthur Lee mixes (where available) plus rips from an original Monarch LP to fill in the gaps. Then, all of a sudden, without warning, this reissue appears, featuring all of the Arthur Lee mixes, mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering! (Chris, are you reading my blog?) Well, unfortunately Chris' work required a little additional tweaking, due to some EQ notches that clearly weren't present on the tapes used for the Love Story masters. Details aside, I've freshly remastered this remastered set so that you can hear it in the most hi-fi sound possible. Some tracks make their debut appearance here in the original mix, and sound wayyy cooler then those reverbed-out, completely-ruined Elektra versions! The extra overdubs on "Talking In My Sleep" are gonna blow your mind...

      Check out the SACD version by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, kills the flat sounding and too compressed 2018 remaster, now i'm listening to it and i love even more Forever Changes than before!

    I bought the original the day it was released, was originally crushed because it was so dissimilar to "Forver Changes," but learned to love it decades ago. Looking forward to hearing this version, so thanks!

    Thanks. I have the original vinyl release. It cost me £1 decades ago when 1st pressings were dirt cheap. The 2019 sounds good but it lacks the feel and depth of the original. It sounds like its been remastered for the digital generation where the high ends are always lifted and low ends are sacrificed. Thus giving the sterile sound that younger people have been brought up on. The original sounds very different and way better in my view.
    Four Sail is one of my favourite love albums. When I saw AL in a tiny club he opened with August and played almost the full album.

    Beautiful work as always TPB. Sounds fantastic. Love the overdriven "in your ear" vocal sound on "Talking In My Sleep". Man, I sure wish you could have done the remastering work for the "Black Beauty" album. Anyhoo, "Four Sail" was my first Love album. Brings back that day in '90 when I found my first copy!

    Saw the torch-bearers currently doing the circuit as Love (complete with Johnny Echols) and while they aren’t the real thing, they know their shit and did some excellent versions of songs from this album including Neil’s Song. Have had the LP since 2019 and the CD far longer so thank you for making this available for me to put in my digital library.
