Damnation Of Adam Blessing – The Second Damnation
Original 1970 USA Promotional LP (Discogs)
United Artists Records UAS-6773
~ThePoodleBites rip in 96kHz / 24bit FLAC + full 800dpi scans~
This is an excellent piece of hard psych from 1970. There isn’t a dull track here! “Back To The River” was actually a minor hit, but my favorite is probably “Death Of A Virgin” – hold on now, I know you're thinking that a band called “Damnation Of Adam Blessing” writing a song called “Death Of A Virgin” is probably some sort of 3rd-rate unintelligible black metal crap. Not so fast! This is heavy psych of a very high caliber, yet simultaneously very melodic and soulful, with excellent songwriting and playing throughout both sides.
I was only turned onto this record relatively recently, and since I just got this near-mint promo copy for a steal at the local record shop a few weeks ago, I had to rip it!
There is a CD (2003 Progressive Line PL 579) that is paired with their debut album, and it is sourced from a vinyl rip. That said, it is not a *bad* vinyl rip, which is actually quite surprising considering the variety of awful-sounding CDs out there. However, I feel pretty confident in saying that this rip is better, if for no other reason than my equipment and the time I spent manually de-clicking each track. There is still a little bit of inner groove distortion here, but I think that it may be on the record itself; my equipment is not faulty.
